Airline flights in and out of Fiji were cancelled as a category-5 cyclone bore down on the South Pacific island nation Saturday, dpa reported. Cyclone Winston was packing average wind speeds of 220 kilometres per hour with gusts of up to 315 kmh, the Fiji meteorological service said. Tourist videos showed downed power lines and strong sea swells in low-lying coastal areas as the leading edge of the storm began hitting the islands. Category 5 is the most severe rating for a storm.
