Pakistan Scholars Council denounced the Iranian President Hassan Rowhani's remarks in which he denied his country's intention to apologize to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the recent attacks on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and the consulate general in the city of Mashhad by Iranian elements. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Pakistan Scholars Council Sheikh Tahir Mahmood Al-Ashrafi said that Rowhani's remarks do not serve the peace efforts in the region and reflect Iran's intention to continue to ignite sectarian strife in the ranks of the Islamic nation. He added that Rowhani's remarks indicated that the aggressive attacks against the Saudi Diplomatic missions have been carried out under the auspices of the Iranian government, stressing that Iran completely abandoned ethics and diplomatic norms as well as its violation of international laws, interference in the affairs of Islamic countries, and supporting terrorism, extremism and sectarianism in the region . Sheikh al-Ashrafi described Iran as an extremist state that does not respect the ethics and norms of international law, calling Islamic countries and the international community to take a clear stand against it.
