Armed commandos assassinated the mayor of a southern Mexican city and two other people in her home, one day after she took office, state authorities said, according to dpa. Gisela Mota Ocampo was mayor of Temixco, located 12 kilometres from state capital Cuernavaca, from the leftist Democratic Revolucion Party. "This is a challenge of the criminal elements. We will never yield," Morelos state governor Graco Ramirez said on Twitter. Two of the attackers reportedly killed by police as they fled the scene Saturday, and three suspects were apprehended later in the surrounding vicinity, state police commissioner Alberto Capella said.
