Greece and Italy reported the arrival of nearly 2,000 migrants from Turkey and North Africa on Friday, dpa reported. Around 1,700 migrants arrived in the Greek port of Piraeus from Turkey via the islands of Lesbos, Chios and Samos, the Greek Coastguard reported. The Italian coastguard meanwhile reported rescuing 99 migrants from a dinghy in the Mediterranean off the coast of Sicily overnight. More than 800,000 migrants came via the Aegean Sea from Turkey into Greece this year, and 150,000 from North Africa to Italy, the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration said Tuesday.
