The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its appreciation of the Greek Parliament's unanimous resolution for recognizing the State of Palestine. It indicated that this significant move is consistent with the UN resolutions to end the Israeli occupation and enable the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights, including the establishment of the independent State of Palestine on the Palestinian territory occupied since June 4, 1967 with Al Quds as its capital. In a statement, the OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani, expressed hope that the Greek government would take the initiative for recognizing the State of Palestine, emphasizing that this would contribute to enhancing international efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region. Meanwhile, Madani called on all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take the initiative to declare their recognition in support of the two-state solution.
