The command of the Coalition Forces announces that Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi has sent a letter to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The letter included informing the command of the coalition that the Yemeni government has decided to announce an initiative for a cease-fire for seven days starting from 15th December until 21st of December 2015 in conjunction with the launch of consultations. Adherence by the other party will renewed the cease-fire automatically. The command of the Coalition Forces said that the Yemeni President explained that he has informed the UN Secretary General that it is necessary to take adequate guarantees from the other party so that the Coalition Forces will not be forced to deal with any breach of the cease-fire with taking practical steps to ensure maintenance of adherence to the ceasefire permanently. The initiative reflects a desire by the president to create an atmosphere for the success of those consultations to achieve the protection of Yemen and its people, save them from further bloodshed and pave the way for intensifying and expanding the medical and humanitarian relief efforts. In response to the initiative, the command of the Coalition Forces announces a cease-fire as of noon Sanaa time, nine o'clock am GMT, on Tuesday, Rabi'I 04, 1437 H. corresponding to December 15, 2015 G., while retaining the right to respond to any breach of the cease-fire. While announcing this, the command of the coalition reiterates its continued support for the Yemeni people and government for the success of consultations to reach a political solution to end the crisis and help the government in carrying out its tasks and duties in maintaining security and stability and dedication for fighting terrorism.
