At least 15 people were injured in two separate incidents at refugee shelters in Germany over the weekend, police reported Monday. Police north of Munich were investigating charges against several asylum seekers at a refugee shelter after a row over a football ban at the facility had got out of hand on Sunday. Up to 80 asylum seekers and guards were involved in the brawl, investigators said. The men reportedly pelted security staff with stones and shoes after they banned inhabitants from playing football in the shelter's living area. Two men from Senegal, aged 20 and 32, were arrested on Sunday, but allowed to return to the shelter later, police said. Three asylum seekers and four security guards were treated for minor injuries. Forty police officers quickly managed to get the situation under control. Meanwhile in Hamburg, eight casualties and 10 arrests were reported at a refugee centre after a weekend of brawling between groups of Eritreans and Syrians. Authorities said the first fight broke out Saturday between about 50 Syrians and Eritreans in the initial intake facility. One injury was reported, but no arrests. But the violence resumed Sunday, with a brawl involving between 60 and 80 migrants attacking one another with sticks, stones and wooden beams. It took three hours to bring the fighting to an end, police reported. Five guards and two residents were reported injured. Ten people involved in the fight were taken into custody, though they were all released Sunday, dpa reported.
