The Secretary General of Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, , met in Kuwait today with the Undersecretary of the United Nations Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Stephen O'Brien as part of his visit to Kuwait to attend the Effective Partnership and Management of Humanitarian Information conference, organized by Kuwait under the patronage of Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Premier of Kuwait and Foreign Minister. During the meeting, coordination and cooperation of joint efforts between the GCC and the UN in the fields of humanitarian assistance and ways of enhancing them to deliver humanitarian assistance and send relief caravans to alleviate their sufferings were discussed. For his part, Al-Zayani lauded the great efforts being exerted by the UN in the field of provision of humanitarian assistance, asserting the necessity of intensifying work in this field, given the sufferings and difficult situations facing refugees.
