Turkey is hoping to invigorate accession talks with the European Union after a summit on migration in Brussels this Sunday, Turkish EU minister Volkan Bozkir told the state-run Anadolu news agency on Thursday, according to dpa. Chapter 17 on economic and financial issues was on the agenda for accession talks in mid-December, he said. EU membership talks are broken down into 35 chapters or policy areas in which countries must bring their laws in line with EU standards. Of these, 14 have been opened with Turkey and one provisionally concluded. Relations between Turkey and the EU would be "dealt a fresh hand," Bozkir said ahead of the extraordinary EU migration summit this Sunday, adding: "God willing, a new era will begin on Sunday."
