German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited France on Wednesday to meet with President Francois Hollande after a series of deadly terrorist attacks rocked the city on November 13, dpa reported. The two leaders appeared in the Place de la Republique in the early evening, where Merkel laid flowers at a memorial site in the central plaza. They were expected to hold a joint press conference shortly thereafter. Hollande has been on a diplomatic campaign this week to drum up support for further military action against IS, which claimed responsibility for the attacks that left 130 people dead and more than 350 injured. He met with British Prime Minister David Cameron before traveling to Washington to hold talks with US President Barack Obama. He is also holding meetings over the coming days with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. -- SPA 22:14 LOCAL TIME 19:14 GMT تغريد
