Korean Air will buy 32 airplanes worth 4 billion dollars from US aircraft producer Boeing, the companies said Thursday, according to dpa. Boeing will supply the Seoul-based airline with 30 new single-aisle 737 MAX airplanes and two 777-300ER, which can carry 396 passengers up to 13,650 kilometres non-stop. The deal includes an option for up to 20 more 737 MAXs announced in June. "I am confident these new airplanes will play an important role in Korean Air's fleet modernization program for many years to come," the chief executive of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, Ray Conner, said in a press release. In 2016, the 777-300ER will undergo changes designed to cut fuel consumption by 2 per cent, Boeing said. Korean Air's fleet consists of 166 aircraft, operating more than 430 flights a day. Chicago-based Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company.
