Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Gasmi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Governor of Al-Shaqra Emirate, and Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, today co-opened Shaqra International Book Expo at Al-Shaqra Expo Center in the participation of 1546 publishers from 64 countries displaying more than 1.5 titles. During the opening ceremony, Sheikh Dr. Al-Gasmi honored Prince Saud Al-Faisal following his appointment as the cultural personality of the 34th session of the book fair which will be held from 4 - 14 November 2015 in recognition of his cultural, charity and humanitarian contributions and his endeavor to consolidate the moderation concept and encourage dialogue and acculturation. Addressing the gathering, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal thanked Al-Gasmi for this honor and urged the Arab nation to put down the fires of sedition and useless struggle among each other and, instead, encourage knowledge and science. Saudi Arabia's pavilion in the exhibition exhibits the products of nearly 26 governmental bodies published in more than 7500 books and more than 40,000 electronic and paper titles.
