OIC Secretary General Iyad bin Amin Madani welcomed the joint statement issued after the Vienna talks on the situation in Syria held on 30th of October 2015, and indicated that it is a positive step into the right direction towards resolving the Syrian crisis. Madani underscored the importance of the joint statement, which inter alia reaffirmed the importance of the territorial integrity of Syria as well as of continued diplomatic efforts towards ending the ongoing war in Syria. The Secretary General reiterated the OIC's constant support for the demands of the Syrian people for freedom, justice and equality, emphasizing the Organization's backing for all initiatives aiming at reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
