Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir said in remarks to Al-Akhbariyah channel this evening, following the end of Vienna talks to discuss reaching a political settlement for the Syrian crisis, that a political solution to the crisis, in Syria, must stem from the resolutions of the Geneva 1, and deny Bashar Al-Assad any role, at that stage. The "option in front of Bashar Al-Assad is to step down through the political process or face defeat on the battlefield, and this is what we put forward, during this gathering today", he stated. In the coming days, he stressed, we will know how serious and what is the desire of the Iranian and the Russian sides to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis, in Syria. There were two points of dispute: the first is the date and means of the departure of Bashar Al-Assad and the second is the date and means of withdrawal of foreign troops from Syria, particularly, the Iranian forces, he added. These two points are essential, he confirmed, indicating that there will be no solution without resolving them. If there is no agreement on a date and way for the departure of Bashar Al-Assad and the date and means of the departure of foreign forces from Syria, there will be no agreement with respect to the Syrian affairs, or with regard to the political process and we were all clear on them, in our conversation during the meeting. -- SPA 01:13 LOCAL TIME 22:13 GMT تغريد
