AlHijjah 22, 1436, Oct 6, 2015, SPA -- A yacht carrying five people is believed to have sunk off the coast of the northern Philippines, the coast guard said Tuesday. Two British nationals, an American, a Canadian and a Filipino were on board the Europa yacht as it sailed from Hong Kong to the Philippines late last week - the same time tropical storm Mujigae was battering the area, dpa reported. A body, a life jacket and traces of oil have been seen near the site where the yacht was last spotted, Philippine Coast Guard spokesman Armand Balilo told broadcaster ANC. He said the yacht likely sank some 220 nautical miles off the coast of Laoag city, in Ilocos Norte province, due to the bad weather. Hong Kong's Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre has sent three vessels to search for the boat.
