AlHijjah 12, 1436, Sep 26, 2015, SPA -- One tourist was killed and 22 injured in a boat crash at a floating market in central Thailand, dpa cited officials as saying Saturday. The accident occurred late Friday night while the tourists were on a river cruise to watch fireflies, according to Amphawa provincial authorities. "The tourist boat turned off its light so the tourists could view the fireflies. As a result it was struck by another boat that did not see it," police Captain Watana Nuan-Sridum said. The crash killed a 61-year-old Hungarian tourist and injured 22 South Koreans. Amphawa is a popular tourist attraction known for its floating markets, firefly tours and preserved riverfront. The area was given UNESCO's Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2008.
