AlHijjah 8, 1436, Sep 22, 2015, SPA -- Apple plans to produce an electric car by 2019, according to insiders cited by the Wall Street Journal in a report Monday, according to dpa. The long-rumoured entry of the world's richest company into the next-generation auto business is now a "committed project," the report said, and Apple has cleared the way to triple the 600-person staff assigned to produce it. The news follows reports earlier this month that Apple had met with California's Department of Motor Vehicles to discuss self-driving car rules. Initially, Apple's electric car won't drive itself, but in the long-term it could be fully autonomous too, the report said.
