AlHijjah 4, 1436, Sep 18, 2015, SPA -- At least 15 people have died in flash floods in southern Algeria, private broadcaster Echorouk TV reported Friday. Civil defence teams retrieved the bodies, which included 12 foreigners of African origin. The three other victims were Algerian nationals. Torrential rains triggered floods Wednesday night and Thursday in the town of Tamanrasset in Algeria's far south, according to the report. A search operation is underway for a missing 15-year-old boy, the broadcaster said. The southern region of Algeria is known for floods. In March, hundreds of houses were destroyed by heavy rains that lasted for days in Tamanrasset.
