AlQa'dah 19, 1436, Sep 3, 2015, SPA -- Tropical Storm Fred is weakening far out over the Atlantic. The storm's maximum sustained winds Thursday at 11 a.m. are 40 mph (65 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says Fred is expected to weaken from a cyclone to a post-tropical low later Thursday or Friday. Fred is centered about 760 miles (1,225 kilometers) west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands and is moving west-northwest at 9 mph (15 kph). Meanwhile in the Pacific, Tropical Storm Kevin is strengthening. The depression's maximum sustained winds are 50 mph (85 kph). The storm is centered about 500 miles (815 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and is moving north at 6 mph (9 kph).
