AlQa'dah 12, 1436, August 27, 2015, SPA -- The two Americans killed in Afghanistan in an apparent insider attack by Afghan soldiers were Air Force special operations troops, the Pentagon said Thursday. The Defense Department identified the troops as Captain Matthew Roland of Kentucky and Staff Sergeant Forrest Sibley of Florida. Roland was assigned to the Twenty-Third Special Tactics Squadron, and Sibley was assigned to the Twenty-First Special Tactics Squadron. The attack occurred Wednesday at a military base in Afghanistan's Helmand province. The attackers were wounded in an exchange of gunfire but survived, while three other Americans were injured.
