Al-Jubeir lauds the Saudi Jordanian relations and describes them as distinguished
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 10 - 07 - 2015

Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today lauded the firm relations binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and described them as distinguished, pointing that the current relations are deep-rooted on firm bases of amicability and close fraternal cooperation to best serve the interests of the two sisterly countries and their peoples under direct instructions of the leaderships of the two countries.
In a joint press conference with Jordan's foreign minister Nasser Jodah held in Amman this evening, Al-Jubeir said his talks with his Jordanian counterpart dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields in addition to the developments in each of Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
He said the relations between the two countries are not controlled by formalities but by joint interests.
Visits are continuing between officials of the two countries, but most important is that Jordan is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ally and partner in the current coalition in support of the legitimacy in Yemen, the confrontation of extremism and terrorism, the current work to provide support for Syria's moderate opposition, the support of peace process in the region, the confrontation to Iran and its aggressive plans and a number of military, political and security matters, he said.
Al-Jubeir added that Jordan is an important country to the Kingdom, considering the security and stability of Jordan, particularly its economic situation an important issue for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and that there are many Saudi investment projects in Jordan, which are expected to increase in future, he said .
The foreign minister of Saudi Arabia pointed out that talk about any lukewarmness in relations between the two countries is far from reality.
In response to a question about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's relations with the United States, he said "we have to first depend on God Almighty, then on ourselves in facing the current challenges which confront the Arab region. If there is identity in the interests with the U.S., we are going to deal with them. If not, we are going to hold consultations with the U.S. for the sake of achieving the required objectives".
He added " the U.S. is considered a changing society with different trends and institutions. What is done by the U.S today might not be done after ten years. What it has done 12 years ago, it might not do it today. So, we don't' want to go deep in the past, but we want to discuss the present and future".
