The president's office said Pena Nieto successfully underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder at the Central Military Hospital in Mexico City. The office said he was recovering well and would return to work Monday. The illness forced Pena Nieto to cancel plans to travel to Guatemala on Friday for a regional summit of national leaders.
