Dozens of people were feared to have been killed Friday when al-Shabaab group attacked an African Union military base in southern Somalia, local military officials said. A suicide car bombing first hit an AU base in Lego village, followed by heavy gunfire against AU and Somali troops in the area, dpa quoted Somali senior military commander Abdikarin Osman as saying. "Our initial reports suggest that five Somali soldiers and several militants were killed. But I cannot give you a number of casualties" for the AU forces, he added.
