U.S. stocks were lower in afternoon trading Thursday as it appeared Greece's debt talks will have to be extended until the weekend. Health care stocks rose sharply after the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act's insurance subsidies, AP reported. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 42 points, or 0.2 percent, to 17,924 as of 3:15 p.m. Eastern. The Standard & Poor's 500 index lost two points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,106. Benchmark U.S. crude for August delivery fell 57 cents to $59.70 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, a benchmark for international oils used by many U.S. refineries, fell 29 cents to close at $63.20 a barrel in London. Gold fell $1.10 to $1,171.80 an ounce, silver fell four cents to $15.81 an ounce and copper was flat at $2.62 a pound. U.S. government bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.39 percent from 2.37 percent the day before.
