Ambassador Osama Naqli, Chairman of the Media Department at the Foreign Ministry, expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's deep regret after a poisoning incident of the Saudi people in the Iranian city of Mashhad which resulted in death of four Saudi children and injury of 28 Saudi citizens. In a statement to Saudi Press agency (SPA), Ambassador Naqli added that the Saudi charge d'affaires in Tehran went to the incident's site to follow the citizens' status and provide the support and the medical care to the injured citizens. He stressed that the Saudi Embassy immediately contacted with the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the concerned authorities in Mashhad to conduct investigations to disclose the ambiguity and circumstances surrounding this incident, stressing that this incident is followed up by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ambassador Naqli added that the Foreign Ministry summoned the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran and expressed deep concern for this incident, expressing hope that the Iranian authorities are urgently to conduct the necessary investigations and reveal all circumstances surrounding it. He demanded the Iranian ambassador to cooperate with the embassy in Tehran and the Consulate General in Mashhad in order to allow them to follow up the medical condition of the patients and to provide all the necessary facilities and care needed by the Saudi citizens in Iran as well as to provide the necessary protection for them. He offered condolences to the families of the deceased, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured citizens.
