An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to a Florida hospital Sunday after a shark bit him on the leg, officials said, according to UPI. The boy was wading in waist-deep water at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach when he was attacked by the shark, Brevard County Ocean Rescue Deputy Chief Eisen Witcher told WESH-TV in Orlando, Fla. The boy sustained a severe injury to his calf. He was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando. "It was definitely one of the worst ones that we've seen in our area that we've responded to, mainly because of the size of the bite," Witcher told CNN. Ocean Rescue evacuated the water for about an hour after the bite to prevent further attacks. The size and type of shark wasn't clear, though Witcher said it may have been a juvenile bull shark. This is the 10th shark bite reported in Brevard County this year.
