This leads me to the conclusion that investment in cleaner fossil fuel technologies is essential and should be a priority. I feel this is particularly true in terms of energy efficiency and carbon capture utilization and storage. I also believe it is important to invest in renewable energy for the medium and longer term. In Saudi Arabia, we believe there are five clear areas where we can make progress. 1) Increasing energy efficiency. Saudi Arabia is taking action, with new rules covering buildings, air conditioning and cars. 2) We are investing time, money, and manpower to become a global player in solar and wind energy. 3) We have faith in carbon capture, use and storage, and we are currently implementing a CO2-Enhanced Oil Recovery system. 4) We are continuing to work diligently to switch from liquid fuel to gas and we are making significant progress in this area. 5) I believe greater investment in research and development in the area of clean energy can drive progress.
