Minister of Economy and Planning Eng. Adel bin Mohammed Faqih, who is heading the Kingdom's delegation to the Saudi-Japanese Forum, opened here today the Joint Saudi-Japanese Business Council. In a statement on this occasion, Eng. Faqih said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan have deep-rooted ties that witnessed a great development during the past six decades, especially after signing the economic and technical cooperation agreement in 1975. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest oil exporter to Japan, and Japan is among the largest trading partners of the Kingdom. Eng. Faqih also said that Japan ranked fifth in terms of foreign direct investment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing the Kingdom's keenness on attracting Japanese investors to effectively contribute to the sustainable development of the Kingdom. Then, the Head of the Kingdom's delegation to the Saudi-Japanese Forum inaugurated an exhibition held on the sidelines of the Joint Saudi-Japanese Business Council.
