Tunisian president Beji Caid Essebsi begins on Wednesday a three-day official visit to the United States of America, during which he will meet with US President Barack Obama and a number of US officials. "The Tunisian president will discuss in Washington, a number of issues related to security and development cooperation between the two countries and regional developments, especially the situation in Libya and terrorist threats in the region", the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic of Tunisia Moez Al-Sinawi said. At a news conference, Al-Sinawi added that a memorandum of understanding to build foundations of the strategic dialogue between the two countries in political, economic and scientific fields will be signed during the visit.
