The United Kingdom welcomed the initiative of the government of Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to begin a five-day humanitarian pause. In a press statment, Tobias Ellwood, Middle East Minister at the UK Foreign Office, stressed importance of this truce for access for humanitarian organisations inside Yemen, confriming that the solution to the crisis must be a political one in Yemen. He also welcomed the conference on Yemen to be held in Riyadh starting on 17 May.
