Yemen's Foreign Minister: Houthi is an Insurgent Group, and we will not go into a Dialogue with them on the Basis of Equality
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 30 - 03 - 2015

Sheikh, Jumada II 09, 1436, March 29, 2015, SPA -- Yemeni Foreign Minister Riad Yassin expressed his thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the General Secretariat of the Arab League and all Arab countries for their keenness to support the constitutional legitimacy in Yemen, reflected in their support for legitimate President Abdrabbo Mansour Hadi.
In a press conference held on the sidelines of the Arab summit which concluded its works in Sharm el-Sheikh, Yassin said that the goal of Determination Storm operation is to stop armed operations and resume the political process later when things calm down to pave the way for the implementation of the GCC initiative mechanism agreed upon by everyone.
This operation will be followed by re-organizing the army and the developmental efforts in Yemen, he said, thanking the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the support he rendered to Yemen and also offering thanks to all countries participating in the coalition in the military operations.
He added that the few weeks ago developments preceding the storm were crucial, triggering Yemen to distress for a military intervention against the Houthis who staged a coup against legitimacy and detained the president, stressing that the whole Yemeni people are united behind the constitutional legitimacy and the peace process.
Yassin explained that the talk of the former President and his son that he abdicated the power is "a kind of words of a loser who has no place."
Yassin noted there is an official spokesman who gives new details of the progress of the Determination Storm operation and that the question of landing embarkation will be in accordance with the need and within an integrated military operation frame.
Answering a question about time frame of the military operation, he said that the process has specific goals, to be followed by peaceful dialogue with the factions who surrender their weapons.
Yassin denied the occurrence of any war between Sunnis and Shiites, drawing attention to the lack of private mosques for sectarian religious communities, confirming that all mosques in Yemen are for all Yemenis.
Regarding the Russian stance, he said that there is a militia who used and still using all the ways to achieve the coup, and talking about a political solution seems to be a misunderstanding of the matter, and there is also continuing logistical support trying to impose facts on the ground.
He said that there is a clear coup and a threat from this militia to attack neighboring countries, calling on them to give up their weapons and return them to the camps from which they have been robbed.
He stressed that the Houthis are just a mutinous militia, whom the state cannot enter into dialogue on the basis of equality, adding that the military operations against the Houthis stopped once and for all their planes from hitting Aden after being hit more than once, and also prevented the air bridge that had come from Tehran supported with equipment as well as deprived them from using missile bases to hit several areas in Yemen.
