There are strong relations binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Maldives in all fields.
President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayoom of the Republic of Maldives arrived in Riyadh today on an official visit to the Kingdom. Upon his arrival, he was received by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of the Maldives were established during the presidency of Maldivian former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom where the Maldivian officials visited the Kingdom for meeting with the Saudi officials to discuss issues pertaining to Hajj and Umrah.
A visit made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to the Maldives when he was Crown Prince in Rabi'II 1435H is represented a quantum leap in supporting the process of cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening partnership between the two countries within the framework of common interest and close friendship that combine the two countries and peoples.
