An explosion at an oilfield site in the U.S. state of New Mexico has killed one worker and injured another, authorities said. Preliminary information indicates the workers were loading material into perforated pipe being installed into a drilling pipe in southern Lea County, near the town of Hobbes, when the blast occurred Wednesday. Police said metal debris from the explosion hit the victims. It is not yet known what caused the blast, and police said an investigation is underway. There was no fire following the explosion.
