The U.S.-led coalition battling ISIS has conducted six airstrikes on the militant group around the Syrian town of Kobani, the Combined Joint Task Force said Tuesday. The task force said in a statement that during a 24-hour period beginning early Monday, the coalition forces also staged eight strikes on ISIS in Iraq. According to the statement, the strikes near Kobani destroyed eight ISIS fighting positions, a checkpoint, and a vehicle. The airstrikes helped Kurdish forces regain control of Kobani in late January, but their progress has been slowed recently. The airstrikes in Iraq targeted ISIS in six areas, hitting tactical units, buildings, and fighting positions, the task force said.
