The latest migrant shipwreck off the Italian island of Lampedusa has claimed 203 lives, dpa quoted the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) as saying Wednesday. The death toll is based on the accounts of nine survivors who arrived on Italian shores on Wednesday, Carlotta Sami, a spokeswoman for UNHCR in Italy, told dpa. The migrants had been travelling on two dinghies with no water or food, Sami said. The vessels, whose motors were not powerful enough to face high waves, started taking in water, she added.
