Boston Mayor Marty Walsh pledged Friday that the city would not use any tax money to build Olympic stadiums if the north-eastern US city wins the 2024 Olympic Games, according to dpa. Boston will represent the US Olympic Committee (USOC) in its bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the USOC announced Thursday. Walsh said at a press conference that it was an honour for Boston to represent the US as the bid city chosen by the USOC and vowed transparency in the use of public funds in the effort. No taxpayer funds would be put toward venues, but some would be used to improve infrastructure in support of the games, he said. Boston2024, the group behind the city's bid, has vowed to use private funds for the bidding process. -- SPA 21:56 LOCAL TIME 18:56 GMT تغريد
