Two people were killed in a shooting on Tuesday at a veterans health clinic at the Fort Bliss Army base in El Paso, including the suspected gunman, officials said. The authorities reported an "active shooting" at the El Paso V.A. Health Care clinic, which is run by the Department of Veterans Affairs, around 3:10 p.m., sending the facility into lockdown, Maj. Gen. Stephen M. Twitty, the commanding officer of Fort Bliss, said at a news conference Tuesday night. The suspected gunman and another person were dead, he said. "All other V.A. patients and staff are safe," General Twitty said. He did not identify the gunman or the victim or describe what had prompted the shooting.
