Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations (UN), chaired here today the 9th meeting of the Advisory Board of UN Counter-Terrorism Centre in presence of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and representatives of 21 states in addition to the European Union. In his speech before the meeting, Al-Mouallimi highlighted importance of the role played by this center in combating terrorism and extremism, stressing that that terrorism is a threat facing the international community, "the center is the umbrella that all nations are gathered to confront the causes of terrorism and to work on eradicating it from its roots as the biggest challenge to international peace and security in order to achieve the aims of the center," he added. He said that this meeting is the first meeting following a generous donation made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the center with $100 million, hoping that this international forum is to become a center for creativity in the fight against forms of terrorism and extremism which, unfortunately, are spread in Syria, Iraq and several African and Asian countries. --More 23:19 LOCAL TIME 20:19 GMT تغريد
