Romania's Socialist Prime Minister Victor Ponta will face centre-right rival Klaus Iohannis in the presidential run-off on November 16, exit polls after the first round on Sunday indicated, according to dpa. Pollsters projected Ponta with 40 per cent and Iohannis with some 30 per cent, far ahead of any of the remaining 12 candidates, in line with earlier opinion polls. Since the winner fell short of an absolute majority, a run-off is necessary. The head of the Socialist Party, Ponta has been prime minister since May 2012. Iohannis is the mayor of Sibiu and the leader of the opposition National-Liberal Party.
