U.S. Welcomes Turks' Move to Let Iraqi Kurds into Syria

AlHijjah 27, 1435, October 21, 2014, SPA -- The United States Monday welcomed a Turkish policy reversal allowing Iraqi Kurdish fighters to cross the border to help defend a besieged Syrian town.
"We welcome those statements from the foreign ministry," State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters.
Earlier, Ankara said that it was now helping Iraqi peshmerga fighters to cross the frontier to reach the Syrian Kurdish town of Kobane, which is under attack from ISIS militants.
