AlHijjah 16, 1435, Oct 10, 2014, SPA -- Slovenia has nominated its minister in charge of development, Violeta Bulc, as it's European Commission candidate, the state news agency STA reported Friday, according to dpa. Bulc replaces Alenka Bratusek, who was previously designated as the country's nominee to the European Union executive in Brussels. The former prime minister was supposed to be the commission's official in charge of energy, but withdrew her candidacy after a weak performance during questioning by the European Parliament. She had also received criticisms for facing a corruption investigation at home. Bulc, 50, is an awarded innovator, entrepreneur and founder of Vibacom, a business solutions website.
