AlHijjah 5, 1435, Sep 29, 2014, SPA -- The U.N. mission to combat Ebola is opening its headquarters in Ghana, where it will coordinate aid for the epidemic in West Africa. The chief of the mission, Anthony Banbury, and his team are expected to arrive Monday in Ghana's capital, Accra. The U.N. Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) will work to identify the biggest needs during the outbreak, especially in the three hardest-hit countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. It then will ensure that personnel and equipment are being sent to fill those gaps. The Ebola outbreak has grown into the biggest ever and is believed to have killed more than 3,000 people in five West African countries.
