AlQa'dah 20, 1435, September 15, 2014, SPA -- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Geneva-based United Nations today confirmed that freedom of speech and opinion is observed in the Kingdom according to the Governance statute and other regulations in force in the country. Speaking before the Human Rights Council in Geneva, he also said Saudi Arabia is committed to continue efforts for the protection of human rights and work seriously to enhance them at the regional and international arenas. He also confirmed that Saudi Arabia's regulations stipulate that freedom of speech and opinion should not lead to violation of other's rights or threaten the national security or public order or health or morals. He added that the governance statute stated that judiciary is to remain independent and that litigation is equal for citizens and expatriates in the Kingdom. He concluded that Saudi Arabia rejects interference of others or distrust in the Saudi laws, requesting everybody to respect that.
