AlQa'dah 14, 1435, September 09, 2014, SPA -- The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres lauded the Saudi role in the field of providing assistance to needy all over the world, citing sizable assistance provided by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, upon instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. In a press conference in Jeddah today, he said Saudi Arabia has provided diversified relief assistance to the needy all over the world. He cited the work done by the Saudi Relief Campaign, particularly distributing more than 9,000 tons of relief items by land, sea and air benefiting more than 600,000 families who moved to northern Iraq. He said the assistance also included the effort of the Saudi Development Fund which signed agreements with the High Commission for Refugees in Pakistan, Thailand, Jordan, and Lebanon as well as the efforts of the Saudi Relief Campaign which also concluded deals to assist refugees in Jordan, Syria and Somalia while the Saudi Red Crescent has reached agreements to help refugees in Somalia and Lebanon. -- SPA 00:01 LOCAL TIME 21:01 GMT تغريد
