AlQa'dah 08, 1435, September 03, 2014, SPA -- A British volunteer nurse who contracted the deadly Ebola virus while working in Sierra Leone has recovered and been discharged, the hospital treating him in London said Wednesday, according to dpa. William Pooley, who was the first known Briton to contract the disease during the current outbreak, said he felt "wonderfully lucky" to have survived. The 29-year-old was flown back to Britain on August 24 and treated in the country's only specialist isolation unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He spent 10 days in the unit, which he described as being similar to a "fish tank," and was treated with the experimental drug ZMapp.
