An American doctor who contracted the Ebola virus Liberia is to be released from a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, later Thursday, broadcaster CNN reported citing a hospital spokesman, according to dpa. The doctor, Kent Brantly, was flown to the United States on August 2 after receiving an experimental serum called ZMapp in Liberia. According to the Christian charity he was working for, Brantly was in dire condition prior to his departure. Brantly will make a statement at 11 am (1500 GMT) at Atlanta's Emory University Hospital, where he has been held in isolation since his return.
