AlQa'dah 4, 1435, Aug 30, 2014, SPA -- Swedish driver Bjorn Waldegaard, who was first rally world champion in 1979 and won 16 world championships, has died at the age of 70, the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation (SBF) said Saturday, according to dpa. "The news that Bjorn Waldegard has left us is hard to bear, SBF chairman Kenneth Thoren said. "Bjorn was the largest in our sport." Waldegaard's career spanned four decades. He made his debut in 1962 and competed until 1992 when a broken arm suffered during a crash in the 1992 East African Safari Rally - a race he won four times - forced his retirement.
