Brazilian prisoners hold guards hostage, demand easier conditions

Authorities were negotiating Monday to convince
inmates who mounted a deadly prison revolt in southern Brazil to
surrender and release two guards being held hostage, dpa reported.
About 600 inmates were reportedly involved in the uprising at a
penitentiary in Cascavel in the state of Parana to demand better
conditions and eased regulations, including more visitor privileges.
Two inmates were decapitated and two others died when they were
thrown off a roof.
