Tropical Storm Cristobal is expected to move northward away from the Bahamas in the Caribbean Sea and miss the U.S. east coast, forecasters said Monday. The storm's maximum sustained winds increased to near 95 kilometers per hour (kph) early Monday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said, adding that gradual strengthening is expected and Cristobal could become a hurricane in the next few days. Cristobal was centered about 195 kilometers east-northeast of San Salvador and was moving north near 6 kph, the Miami-based NHC said.
