The U.N. refugee agency on Tuesday announced an aid operation to send supplies to more than 500,000 people displaced by the fighting in Iraq. An aircraft stocked with supplies will fly to Arbil, Iraq, on Wednesday from Jordan, road convoys will go through Turkey and Jordan, and sea shipments from Iran and Dubai will send aid over the next 10 days, said U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) spokesman Adrian Edwards. The aid shipments will carry 3,300 tents, 20,000 plastic sheets for shelter, 18,500 kitchen sets, and 16,500 jerry cans. "This is a very, very significant aid push and certainly one of the largest I can recall in quite a while," Edwards told reporters.
